52 Strategies for burnout Survival
Meet Bonnie Kitahata,
From Bonnie Kitahata, RN
I’ve loved being a nurse—most days! Caring for patients, whether it’s offering a warm blanket or performing life-saving CPR, is why we choose this work. We want to help, heal, and make a real difference.
But let’s be honest: it’s tough. Understaffing, demanding patients and families, endless charting, audits, and crushing expectations can turn good days into burnout. I know—I’ve quit nursing, only to show up again the next day.
What got me through? Other nurses. Sharing frustrations, tears, laughter, encouragement. That’s what I want this space to be: a place to recharge, to be reminded why we became nurses, and to learn to care for ourselves so we can keep caring for others.
Let’s break burnout together. Share your stories, strategies, jokes, and ideas to help us all love nursing again.
